Tapped the BB, reamed and faced the Head tube.
Needs some post braze clean up. As you can see, on the faced part of the headtube There is a good penetration of silver ( the entire frame is silver brazed. yes, its real silver in there. expensive? you bet !! ) between the lug and the tubing. That means, this bike is ready to take on the bad stuff - head on !

A properly reamed and faced headtube is necessary, so that the head set can sit squarely on the headtube, Which results in smoother steering and ofcourse longer bearing life.

27.2 Seatpost Shim

Here is the Seatpost Shim for a 27.2 post. Lathed and milled out of a 304 SS tube.

The slots are here for a couple of reasons, Reduced weight and is a good place to feed in the silver, for a secure bond to the ID of the seat tube.

The top image is of the shim only, and the second pic is of the shim inside the seat tube.

I was working on this road bike for well over a year. Finally completed the project last month!
I've made bikes before, but none were built with 'finish' in mind. All the bikes I'd made earlier were totally ghetto ! but not the CAFFEINE !
Built from 'Columbus Life' niobium alloy triple butted tubing, this thing totally rocks !
I never intended to make a light frame, I'm not much of a weight weenie, But I'm happy with the way the whole frame turned out, just 1.4 kgs, it really makes my day when I'm out riding. It feels lighter than it actually is, thanks to my downhill bike and my dirt jump bike!
Here's the pic of the machine, taken by my good ol' friend Abhijit Nilakje, this guy is an ace ! visit his blog at http://rockscratcher.blogspot.in/  btw he's got the CAFFEINE there too ! this thing is addictive ! yeahh
