re designed thrust link

i love my rm7 to the core, but my bike is an old school freeride bike, which translates to a very high BB, and steep head angles. ( new school FRbikes have slightly lower BB and slacker head angles )it was made when freeriding was in its infancy, it also is one of the bikes that brought out the whole freeride phenomenon to the world.
during those days, this bike was ridden only to be jumped off a 30 or a 40 footer ( no i've never tried this ! more on this some other time Lol !)
it was hardly used for RIDING. now when i take my rm7 for mountain biking, i cant corner they way i want to, because of the high BB, i cant lean into the turns. these days i enjoy taking my Shortfuse 380 DJ bike (hardtail) to the mountains, it corners like a charm as its got a nice low BB. but i end up being sore after a good DH ride. i missed my rm7's buttery smooth 7 inches of front and rear wheel travel to the core while ripping down the trails.
so i thought of resurrecting my trusty ol' steed. i wanted to lower the BB as much as the design of the bike allowed me to. i got down to business, designed the part in CAD.
got it CNC machined from super strong 2014 T-6 alloy. heattreated it post machining to T6 and anodized.
its just 2mm shorter than the stock linkage, but it lowers the BB by approx half an inch and slackens the head angle by the same amount

dh/fr stem






had tried making a stem ( hand milled ) inspired by the TIOGA CUBE stem some 12-13 years back, while in college. i was quite successful with that other than the fact that i had miscalculated some measurements i had only enough space to drill a 2mm hole for the M6 bolt that i had initially thought of !

i finally made a CNC machined stem, designed in Solidworks.
made from T6-6082 alloy. heat treated to T6 after machining.
M6 hardware (finally !! haha)
0 deg rise. 50mm reach
anodized colors
weight is approx 230 grams including hardware.

laser engraving is in process as i type this.
in all, pretty much satisfied with the result other than a few extremely minor issues.
