bike frame

been thinking of making an aluminum alloy frame for many many years. made a couple of steel frames, the first one was a modified hercules mtb.

only the top tube , downtube and the headtube are in the places where the manufacturer wanted it to be, the rest was all chopped off. the two large diameter tubes are stainless steel. had a hard time cutting those tubes with a hacksaw ! the frame had sealed ball bearing pivots. didn't get much travel out of that cheap excuse for a rear shock, a measly 3 inches.

made another frame , (unfortunately, i don't have a snap of it) this one gave me 7.5 inches of travel, courtesy, the rear shock from a bajaj m-80. ( this moped doesn't exist anymore, had a close resemblance to the honda cub)

then with the help of one of my friend, who owns a small workshop in mumbai, made a stainless steel dirtjump hardtail based on the nicolai bmxtb. TIG welded through out with 1.5 headtube and plasma cut drop outs, this bike was built like a tank, and yes it weighed more than one !!!

currently working on an alloy frame, 6082 to be precise. this one is going to be built from scratch. right from the headtube to the dropout, its going to be my own design.

finished off machining the headtube, bottom bracket and main pivots ( yes , there are two main pivots)

the main tube has to be machined .. waiting for the CAD drawings to be completed before i venture into custom made bike building ! hope i get lucky..
